The health scare

Life and health are never to be taken for granted. We need to be grateful and thankful for every single minute we are able to live life without any health issues.

Maahira woke up with very high fever on 13th May 2021, close to 103. We gave her paracetamol and the fever subsided. She had dosa happily in my lap and then took a nap at 9:30 am. I sat next to her and started my work. Around 10:30 am she started getting very restless in sleep. She kept twisting and turning and with every turn she would open her eyes to ensure I was around and go back to sleep. At one such turn, she opened her eyes and kept staring at me blankly. I found it weird instantly and started shouting her name and tried jolting her. But she kept staring at me and became totally non-responsive. I lifted her and took her to dad's room (her body, neck, head everything was completely loose as though she did not have any control over her limbs).. the next 5 minutes were the most scared I have ever been in my life. She lay there motionless, staring at me, not responding to anything. We rubbed her feet and sponged her head.. slowly she started moving her eyes.. and turning towards sound.. we rushed her to the hospital under emergency care.. doctor told us she had probably had a febrile convulsion due to high fever, which is common in kids below 5 years age.. Most kids outgrow this condition once they are 5 or 6 years.. but we will have to be extra careful every time she gets a fever hereon (I have become completely paranoid about this. I keep waking up in the middle of the night, scared, cursing myself to have slept deep and not having checked her fever)

My little doll had to be admitted for 2 days and undergo all the hospital trauma. But kids always amaze us with how adaptive they are and how quickly they can move from one situation to other and get back to being their playful self!

The day after Maahira got discharged, my hero also had to get admitted for high grade fever for two days..Maahira would do a video call with him while he was in hospital and tell him - Bhaiya, darna mat.. doctor uncle kuch nahin karenge.. Maahira bhi gayi thi wahaan.. phir thik ho kar ghar aa gayi thi! :)

It broke my heart to see my two little babies admitted.. I have been questioning myself on hundred things including how could I let this happen to my kids, where am I going wrong with their diet/hygiene, is this happening because I could not breastfeed them enough etc.. While I plan to make some changes to our diet and lifestyle to boost immunity, for now I am thankful to God to bring my babies back home healthy. Thank you God and Ma.. Keep blessing us!
